Representatives of National Forces and Human Rights Organizations
Call for the need to end the division in order to safeguard the rights and freedoms and to reinforce the steadfastness of Jerusalemites
Ramallah - Representatives of human rights organizations and national forces anonymously stressed the need to provide all necessary support to reinforce the steadfastness of the Jerusalemites and to build on the speech of President Mahmoud Abbas, in which he called for the need for an action to end the division.
The meeting was called for by the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) and attended by representatives of the Palestinian human rights organizations and some national action groups to discuss the general Palestinian situation and the occupation measures against our people, especially in the city of Jerusalem and the attempts and attacks against Al-Aqsa Mosque which are violations against the Palestinian sovereignty and the right of citizens to freedom of worship. The participants in the meeting praised the brave and honorable stance of the Jerusalemites who confronted the policies of the occupation government that aimed at judaizing the city of Jerusalem. They stressed the need to provide all official and popular support to strengthen their steadfastness.
With regard to the internal situation, the participants agreed to submit an initiative to the President and the leadership of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and to call on them to take parallel steps to move towards ending the division. The initiative calls on Hamas to dissolve the Administrative Committee in the Gaza Strip and enable the National Reconciliation Government to carry out its duties and responsibilities and calls on the government and the presidency to recede from the recent measures of cutting salaries, ending the service of employees for early retirement and stop paying the salaries of captives nd members of the Legislative Council. The participants stressed the need for everyone to stand up to the level of sacrifices of our people and stand united in the face of the occupational attack against the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The participants in the meeting warned of the dangers of the continued division and not to take advantage of the status quo to restore the national unity, due to the great damage caused to the rights and freedoms.
