Domestic violations continued during March 2017 at a varying pace. This report highlights the most important violations as monitored and documented by the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) as follows:

  • The ICHR monitored 10 unnatural death incidents in March 2017 compared to 17 incidents in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 56 complaints on torture and maltreatment in March 2017 compared to 46 complaints in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 80 complaints on the violation of the right to due process of law and detention without fair trial guarantees in March 2017. However, it received 54 complaints on this regards in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 9 complaints on governorate-ordered detention in the West Bank in March 2017. However, 24 complaints were lodged in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 4 complaints on the non-execution or delay in the enforcement of the judgments in March 2017 compared to 6 complaints in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 3 complaints on encroachments on the freedoms of opinion & expression, press and peaceful assembly in March 2017 compared to 5 complaints in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 4 complaints on the confiscation of citizens’ properties without judicial ruling in March 2017 compared to 3 complaints in February 2017.
  • The ICHR documented 4 death sentence rulings in the Zaza Strip in March 2017 compared to 7 rulings in February 2017.  
  • The ICHR received 2 complaints on attack on people and public properties in March. Likewise, it received 2 complaints in this regard in February 2017.
  • The ICHR received 4 complaints on the right to freedom of movement in March 2017. Likewise, it received 4 complaints in this regard in February 2017.
