Domestic violations of human rights continued with varying frequency during August 2018. This report documents the main violations observed by ICHR. The following is a summary of documented violations:

  • ICHR observed 18 unnatural mortality cases in august, while it observed 10 cases in the previous month.
  • ICHR received 17 complaints on torture and ill-treatment, while it received 48 complaints in the previous month.
  • ICHR did receive 17 complaints on violation of the right to proper legal procedures and detention without guarantee of fair trial, while it received 16 complaints in the previous month.
  • ICHR received 17 complaints on detention in the governor’s custody in the West Bank, while it received 2 complaints during the previous month.
  • ICHR received one complaint about disrespect and non-implementation of court rulings, while it received 2 complaints in the previous month.
  • ICHR did not document any death penalty ruling in August while it documented 3 rulings of death penalty in the previous month.
  • ICHR received 4 complaints on violations of freedom of opinion, expression, media and peaceful assembly this month, while it received 5 complaints in the previous month.
  • ICHR received one complaint on the right to movement and travel, while it received 3 complaints in the previous month.
  • ICHR did not receive any complaints on confiscating citizens’ property without a court order, while it received 3 complaints in the previous month.
  • ICHR received 2 complaints on the right to academic rights, same as the previous month
  • ICHR received 3 complaints for assault on public associations, private property and assaults on persons, while it did not receive any complaints in the previous month.
