Commissioner General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights Discuss Public Office Issues with the President of the General Personnel Council

Ramallah\ Dr. Ahmad Harb Commissioner General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights met with the President of the General Personnel Council, Minister Mousa Abu Zaid and discussed with him several public office-related issues, including some cases of public sector employees. They also discussed matters related to supervising allowances for the employees of the Gaza Strip and the employees of the Ministry of Waqf and Religious Affairs. Additionally, they discussed the role of the General Personnel Council with respect to the implementation of public office-related courts' decisions.

This meeting was also attended by Ms. Randa Siniora, Executive Director of ICHR, Ghandi Raba'i, Director of the National Policies and Legislations Department, Sami Jabareen, Coordinator of the Complaints and Inquiry Department and Mousa Abu Dheim Director of West Bank Program. It was also attended by Lutfi Samhan, Director of the Legal Department at the GPC and Ahmad al-Keelani, Director of the Minister's Office.

Minister Abu Zaid said that the aim of his visit to ICHR is to promote cooperation and joint work between the GPC and ICHR to respond effectively to any relevant issue and materialize actual and genuine cooperation that flows in favor of the public sector employees. He stressed the importance of the role that ICHR plays to maintain and protect the rights of the public sector employees.

Dr. Ahmad Harb expressed his appreciation for the visit made by Minister Abu Zaid. He said that this visit comes while ICHR is ready to issue its annual report of 2013 on the status of human rights in Palestine. He pointed out that the relationship of the ICHR with all national institutions, including the GPC is based on cooperation and integration for the benefit of the Palestinian citizens. He commended the GPC's serious and professional response to the complaints of public sector employees filed through the ICHR.
