Independent Human Rights Commission Statement on International Court's Decision Regarding Gaza Genocide Cas

Today, the Independent Human Rights Commission (ICHR), closely followed the International Court of Justice's session focused on issuing decisions and provisional measures concerning the case brought forth by South Africa against Israel. This case accuses Israel of perpetrating genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for the one hundred and eleventh day consecutively.
ICHR expresses its disappointment over the court's failure to issue a definitive decision to halt the war and military actions, as South Africa had proposed. However, it acknowledges and appreciates the court's directive requiring Israel to undertake all necessary measures to prevent genocide in Gaza, immediately address urgent humanitarian needs, and curb direct incitement to genocide in the region. This decision, in ICHR’s view, lays the groundwork for holding Israel accountable for committing genocide in Gaza.
ICHR underscores that halting genocide cannot be realized without completely stopping the war on Gaza. It calls on the international community to swiftly act and enforce the court's directives
