ICHR Condemns the Brutal Massacres
in Gaza and Calls for Urgent International Action
The Independent Commission for Human Rights )ICHR) strongly condemns the ongoing brutal massacres committed by Israeli occupation forces since the early hours of today in Gaza. These attacks have resulted in the killing of at least 420 civilians, including more than 130 children and a large number of women, in addition to over 500 others suffering serious injuries. An unknown number of victims remain trapped under the rubble.
This criminal bombardment targeting civilian homes and shelters for displaced persons constitutes a full-fledged war crime under international law. It reflects a systematic escalation of genocidal policies against the Palestinian people, who are already facing catastrophic humanitarian conditions due to the continued closure of border crossings and the prevention of humanitarian aid, food, and medicine from entering Gaza.
The Independent Commission for Human Rights warns that the ongoing blockade and the cutting off of essential supplies to over two million Palestinians in Gaza threaten to cause an unprecedented famine, amounting to a crime against humanity. This situation necessitates immediate international intervention to put an end to these grave violations.
In this context, the ICHR calls on:
- The United Nations and the UN Security Council to take immediate action to stop the Israeli aggression and impose sanctions on the occupying state for its blatant violations of international humanitarian law.
- The International Criminal Court to launch an urgent investigation into these massacres and hold those responsible for crimes against Palestinian civilians accountable.
- Governments, humanitarian organizations, and human rights groups to pressure the opening of border crossings and the delivery of urgent aid to Gaza, as well as to support hospitals with medical teams, medicines, and essential supplies to prevent a devastating humanitarian catastrophe.
- The media and the international community expose Israel’s crimes against unarmed civilians in Gaza and to end complicity in justifying the occupation’s violations.
The ICHR affirms that Israel’s long-standing impunity has emboldened it to commit further massacres against Palestinian civilians. We reiterate our commitment to defending Palestinian human rights through all available legal means until justice is served and the perpetrators are held accountable.
